On March 1, 2025 the Kraze Fastpitch organization hosted a signing day celebration and scholarship awards ceremony at our facility in Carteret. On hand to support the athletes were family members, friends, high school coaches and former and current Kraze coaches. Team Manager John Casalinuovo opened the ceremony by thanking everyone for attending and Kraze parents Katie, Nicole and Sonia for putting together the signing backdrop and festivities. John also mentioned the dedication his athletes have put in over the years including balancing schoolwork and athletics.

The first recognition was our traditional Kraze scholarship awards, which goes to players who have played for Kraze Fastpitch for every year they were eligible. The two players who received awards, Brielle Cubala & Sophia Casalinuovo, both who have played for Kraze since 8u. This award is a way for us to say thank you for the faith in the program we have created and the dedication to Kraze Fastpitch. That was followed by the signing day photos.

More than a game, it’s a journey!

At 8 or 10 years old, players and their parents have no idea where this game will take them or how the journey will unfold. But by the time they reach 12, many begin to see the game as more than just a social activity — they start to understand the dedication, effort, and commitment it takes to truly compete and grow in the sport. Itʼs at that point the vision of whatʼs possible begins to take shape, setting the foundation for the next steps in their journey.By the time they reach high school nearly 1⁄2 of the athletes who were playing 3 years ago are done and moved on to other hobbies or interests. Those who remain committed do so for only a few reasons. Some thrive on competition and all the game has to offer. Others simply for camaraderie and friendships, and some even stay to make others happy.

Much like time, the game waits for no one. Practices and workouts are scheduled and happen regularly, and once missed, they canʼt be replaced. The same goes for weekend tournaments — these are invaluable opportunities to improve our game, expand our knowledge, sharpen our skills, and enhance our athleticism. For those who remain committed to their education, who strive to be the best teammates, and who are always coachable with the desire to improve just 1% each day, success is inevitable. Itʼs not just about talent; itʼs about the mindset and dedication to constantly grow and give your best.

Importance of Today’s Celebration:

As Kraze Fastpitch enters its 15th summer of competition, one of the program pillars has been celebrating the successes, big or small. Another is, respecting the game and respecting those who have paved the way by doing the best you can and doing whatʼs right. There are no “cookie cutters” when it comes to celebrating success. They can happen unannounced and be arbitrary based on viewpoint or the moment in time. There may be easier identified measurables like hits or home runs, or even championships, but measuring intangibles such as commitment, tenacity, effort and attitude are often not celebrated with awards or even praise. Signing day is more than just a reflection of the awards and accolades that student-athletes have earned. It's a moment to recognize the hard work, dedication, and those invaluable intangibles that coaches at every level seek when building a team. This day marks not only an achievement but a milestone in a larger journey. As a program, we see it as a time to celebrate the growth and perseverance that has brought each of them here. Itʼs a moment to be proud, to reflect on the path theyʼve taken, and to look forward to the next chapter in their athletic and personal development.

The celebration on signing day isnʼt just for the student-athletes — itʼs for the families, friends, and coaches, both current and former, who have supported these athletes in countless ways throughout their journey. Thereʼs a saying, “It takes a village to raise a child,” and that rings true when it comes to transforming a young girl into a softball player, then a student-athlete, and ultimately, a collegiate athlete. The program serves as the vehicle for this journey, but without the unwavering support of the entire “village,” success wouldn't be possible. Thatʼs why, from time to time, you'll see us posting about KrAzeNation — itʼs our way of celebrating the entire community that makes it all happen.

Best of luck ladies, we are proud of you all, and the way you continue to represent the Kraze name! You will always have a place within KrAzeNation. GO KRAZE!
